The world of Rhune, a Stormpunk setting for the Pathfinder™ game. To find out more about Rhune, head over to the website here.
This was my first shot at a full blown world map in a more illustrative style. I’m also usually less organised with my decorations such as the compass and the border. In this case the world (nordic steampunk) needed a little something. With the place of the world tree in norse myth, and a culture rich with decorative touches, a knotwork border and a tree compass seemed to fit in nicely.
This is definitely a fantastic looking map. Ill more than likely be picking up some of your maps here soon. I wish I was this skilled. I am struggling to get my hand drawn world map into a digital format. Congrats on having it on display at the SOHO Gallery.
Thanks a lot – I’m glad you like it. It was certainly a great project to take on as it allowed me the space to work on a big map in this style and really nail it down.
Your welcome Jon and its well deserved.
hey, its vman3force from over at the guild. I like this style of map a lot, I especially love the tree in the bottom right.
I’m really glad you like it! I always have trouble coming up with appropriate compass roses for maps, but this one worked really well.
The best map i have ever seen. Do you use Photoshop to create those maps?
I do – it’s all done in Photoshop with a tablet. Thanks for the compliment – I’m so pleased you like it!
Will posters of this map be available soon? Another amazing map, well done.
That’s Jaye Sonia’s call as it’s his Pathfinder setting. However I’ve sent him an email to check whether they’ll be offering posters.
It’s not in the cards right now, but I’d love to at some point. It truly is a fantastic map!
Olá Jon, eu estou realmente apaixonado pelo seu mapa. Sou do Brasil e sou fascinado por mapas e cartografia. Deixe-me perguntar: você vai disponibilizar o PSD de alguma parte do mapa? Ou das casas e montanhas?
I’m really glad you like the map. This one is a commission, but I can certainly provide the psd of a map in a similar style if you’re interested in how the map is constructed? Have you come across the Cartographers’ Guild? There are more mountain tutorials on there than you’ll know what to do with!
Wow this is just amazing! I would love to see a higher resolution version of this map. It would be great to see the actual psd to analyse how you created your layers, effects, etc. Even a tutorial would be great.
